RSA Check it Fits is coming to Kildare
21 July, 2016
The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has a free service in response to a frightening statistic that shows that as many as 4 out of 5 child car seats are incorrectly fitted which can result in serious injury or worse, a fatality in the event of a collision.
Since October 2013, the RSA’s ‘Check it Fits’ Service has checked over 17,000 child car seats and restraints in Ireland. Of these, 83% required some adjustment. Worryingly, 79% of seats required a major adjustment, of which 3% were deemed not fit for purpose and condemned, meaning they could have caused injury or even death in the event of a collision.
The ‘Check it Fits’ Service is a full-time, nationwide, free expert service which aims to put parent’s, grandparent’s and guardian’s minds at ease that their child’s car seat is safely and securely fitted in their car. The service is quick, it’s easy, it’s free and it has arrived in Kildare where our experts will advise on how to fix any problem, demonstrate how to fit the restraint correctly and answer any queries participants might have.

We would be delighted if you could help us to raise awareness of child safety in cars by letting colleagues, friends, family members and any other relevant contacts know about our upcoming visit to Kildare. We have included a copy of our poster and an image for social media which may be useful for promoting the ‘Check it Fits’ Service in your workplace and local community also.
