Healthy Ireland Smart Start Training Programme

The National Childhood Network (NCN) is delighted to announce that the HSE has again made funding available to subsidise the delivery of the Healthy Smart Start Training Programme for Pre-school providers and staff.
Delivered nationally for the first time in 2014, staff from 213 Pre-school services have participated in training, with 164 services completing the External Assessment process so far. Of these 92% of the services assessed have been validated as meeting the Performance Indicators agreed for achievement of the Healthy Ireland Award as a Health Promoting Pre-school Service.

This is a new award initiated by the HSEDNE and developed under the Government’s Healthy Ireland Framework for Pre-school providers of both sessional and full day care services. The development gives recognition to the important role the Pre-school sector plays in promoting children’s overall health and well-being.

The Kildare HISS programme will be delivered in Kildare Education Centre, commencing Tuesday 6th October 2015.
